Walter “Budd” Kitchen
is a professional fly-tier, true sportsman and conscientious conservationist. His dedication to the streams and rivers he
enjoys has been recognized by the Atlantic Salmon Federation/New Brunswick Salmon Council honored for his efforts in distinguishing
himself as a World Class Fly-Tying Professional, dedicated to conservation and the future of Salmon Angling.
Creations
of note by “Budd” are, “The Riverman”, “The Irish Warrior”, “Diplomat”, “Moisie
Mistriss”, “Grouse Mouse” and now in 2004 “The Squire”.
In 1996 a collection of gallery framed fly’s tied by “Budd” was presented to His Royal Highness,
The Prince of Wales. Proudly displayed among his prized collections is a photo of “Budd” and “Charles”.
During
the months of winter and while at his bench and vise, “Budd” dreams of his line on the water. Tying for pleasure
is most important to him, but, most of all, the dream he carried since a boy, of fishing crystal clear waters in his home county
with his own fly tied for the purpose and sometimes, specific stream.
During the seasonal fishery “Budd”
and his dogs may be seen fishing various sections of our Mighty Miramichi River system but, the waters of the North West Branch
are a real favorite.
So, if the Salmon are running the
Miramich River, you can be rest assured that somewhere along the banks of this great watershed you will find one of the
world greats, in his field of dreams.
