The Miramichi Salmon Conservation
Centre We are offerring guided tours of the hatchery facilities and trout fishing.
PLEASE NOTE: HATCHERY TOURS BEGIN JUNE 1, 2010 AND FINISH SEPTEMBER 6, 2010 AND THE TRADITIONAL ABORIGINAL
FISHING CAMP WILL NOT BE OFFERRED IN 2010.
Hatchery tours: $5.00
per adult $3.00 per child Family rate of $15.00 Special
group tour rates (over 10 people = $3.00/person) School tours are available at no charge
Hatchery Tour During the tour, the salmon's life cycle will be
explained as you view the various life stages from juveniles to adults in indoor tanks. Tours are in English only and
is open 7 days per week, 8 am to 4:00 pm, from June 1 to September 1. Tours are
available by request during the winter Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:00 pm.
Trout
Fishing TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR RESTOCKING - REOPENING ON JULY 5 The highlight
for most visitors is the opportunity to fish for brook trout at the U-fish ponds. Two ponds, usually with one stocked with
small trout and the other with large trout, provide the enjoyment of catching and keeping these beautiful fish at a cost of
$5.00/lb. Fishing rods are provided and no licences are required, but you must keep what you catch. The fish ponds are
closed during the winter and are open only from late May to October from Monday to Friday and 7 days per week from June 1
to September 6. U-fish is open from 8 am to 4:00pm each day.
PLEASE NOTE: THE U-FISH PONDS WILL
OPEN ON MAY 17 WITH ONLY 1 POND OPERATIONAL WITH LARGER TROUT (GREATER THAN 1/2 lb). THE SECOND POND WILL OPEN ON JULY
5 WITH SMALLER TROUT (LESS THAN 1/2 lb). PONDS WILL CLOSE FOR THE SEASON ONCE THESE FISH ARE GONE.
